World Braille Day observed by Swabhiman and CureBay
Bhubaneswar : Swabhiman, in collaboration with CureBay, joyously observed World Braille Day at Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Bhubaneswar. The distinguished guests for the event included Mr. Ashok Mohapatra coordinator of Inclusive Education,OSEPA, Mr. Sannyasi Behera (OAS), Deputy Secretary of the Department of Social Security and Disability Empowerment, Government of Odisha. During the Program the esteemed guests were distributed 30 Universal Braille Kits to underprivileged scholar students with Visual Impairment from different districts of Odisha. The kit includes tools such as, German Braille slate, Stylus,Abacus ,Tylor frame, mobility cane,word block,6braille dot,English and Hindi alphabet Braille board,Braille paper, New year Calendar in braille letter to help students in their education. The discussion revolved around the imperative need for Braille among visually impaired students, addressing how it contributes to their personal development as compassionate individuals. Invited guests and teacher trainees from different districts were given New Year calendar, factsheets on disability, health and braille and printed book in braille on Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 to their institution.The day’s highlights included a patriotic song performed by students from Bhabagrahi Model School for the sightless. Additionally, an interactive quiz competition engaged the students, making it a memorable and impactful celebration of World Braille Day.
